Now this premise has promise.
Just ahead of the Cannes Film Festival (when movies are marketed around like mad), one of the hottest upcoming multiplex tickets has been announced.
Avengers: Endgame star Chris Hemsworth will pose as a male stripper in a buddy cop comedy called Down Under Cover opposite Tiffany Haddish.
Here’s the summary of Down Under Cover, via Deadline:
In Down Under Cover, Hemsworth will play a detective who goes undercover to crack a series of baffling casino heists in which the prime suspects are a troupe of Australian male erotic dancers. He’s forced to take the partner no one else will — Haddish’s character, a lone wolf who does things only one way: hers. Together they have to work as an unlikely duo to solve the crime of their careers.
It’s hard to believe most people didn’t know who the hell Hemsworth was as little as eight or nine years ago. One of the most marketable stars around, the Aussie has also shown he’s more than just a pretty face and a God-like physique. The man has great comic timing, and can be very goofy. Combine that with Haddish’s HI-LAR-I-OUS-NESS (she can also really act and show depth), and this sounds like a winning ticket.
Let’s just hope they go for the R rating on this one— for all kinds of reasons!
Well, so long as the script doesn’t suck and the director is at least competent, this seems like a premise that’s virtually impossible to screw up. Both of these stars are gold. Count us in!
