Downton Abbey is a fave of many and we are all saddened to hear that this season will be the last one.  I think it all stemmed from Maggie Smith saying she's all done and everyone just followed suit.  I mean, if Maggie ain't in it …

So, yes, taking Maggie out would most likely kill the show, but would the show have been as great a success if it were not British?  What if the accents were not there and it sounded like everything else we produce on this side of the pond?

Stephen Colbert asked that question to some of the cast members and here is the result.

What did you think?  Didn't they sound like a stereotypical Pirate, Valley Girl, and a West Hollywood regular? I guess that is what American accents are to some people?

Great job guys.  I'd probably still watch even if the accents were gone.  Although my Siri is currently set to a British Male accent, so I may be fibbing.
