Family Research Council Advocates for Harm of Children. Again.

Everyone's favorite group, The Family Research Council, is at it again, voicing their support for the Republican party and conversion therapy in an email that was sent to supporters of the group, according to LGBTQ Nation. Hooray.

The FRC, a group that has been labeled as an anti-LGBTQ hate group, has recently gained political ground as they are ardent supporters of far-right political figures such as Mike Pence, and wish for the US government to elect more like-minded people (read: bigots). Luckily, many people in many states are rejecting conversion therapy as they recognize that the validity of the harmful practice is nil but to the members of the Family Research Council, it is a practice that should be encouraged so that The Gay™ can leave people's souls. Like that has ever worked…

According to the Human Rights Campaign, people who have undergone harmful conversion therapy are six times more likely to have high-level depression, three times more likely to abuse illegal drugs, three times more likely to be at high risk for HIV and other STDs, and more. Pediatric and psychiatric groups have rightfully condemned this "therapy" and recognized the horrible effects of the hateful practice. However, Perkins sent out a mass email in support of it.

This is a snippet of what he wrote to his masses:

"We must resist politicians who advocate for adults and/or children to be prohibited from seeking psychological and spiritual help when they suffer from unwanted same-sex attraction or gender confusion. Such are combatants on the front lines of the culture of death. We must support true advocates of the family who will boldly oppose every initiative across America that fosters sexual revolution, undermines God’s laws pertaining to marriage, and undermines parents’ authority to guide and educate their children according to their faith.

God, as we draw near Election Day, please guide all Americans, but especially your people, to vote for men and women who will lead our cities, counties, states, and nation in a way that is pleasing to you and that will bring blessing to Your people, our nation, and all the nations. May we be found worthy for you to raise up godly men and women who will honor you in public office, and to prevent those who will disregard you and your laws from gaining power in any level of government.”

Let's dissect this, shall we?

We must resist politicians who advocate for adults and/or children to be prohibited from seeking psychological and spiritual help when they suffer from unwanted same-sex attraction or gender confusion.

I'm assuming that the unwanted same-sex attraction or "gender confusion" is because of local religious pressure… having an attraction to the same sex does not constitute as suffering so long as people aren't taught that it's wrong.

Such are combatants on the front lines of the culture of death.

Well. That's pretty dramatic.

We must support true advocates of the family who will boldly oppose every initiative across America that fosters sexual revolution… and undermines parents’ authority to guide and educate their children according to their faith.

Translation: Only penis in vagina sex is acceptable and you have to blindly accept what your parents tell you (I'm not knocking religion, just saying that people should be free to believe what they want).

Well, you've read the rest. He's telling God to help the US government elect closed-minded people that will create anti-LGBTQ bills and support nationwide conversion therapy and actively opposing people who will not carry out harmful policies. Not good! As far as I know, the United States does not operate under a theocracy and, in fact, has an entire amendment to prevent us from having religious rule.

Let's hope that the majority of people do not take this diatribe seriously but with the current administration and my pessimistic thinking, I don't have much hope.
