Maybe we shouldn't feel TOO BAD for this particular RuPaul's Drag Race legend, as she scored a role in what could be one of the biggest movies of this year.
The upcoming remake of A Star is Born, starring Lady Gaga and directed by Bradley Cooper, has a very famous Drag Racer who will be playing her character Ally's drag mother of sorts. Any guesses? Halleloo?
That's right, the one and only Shangela has made her way to the big screen as she revealed what her role will be in a recent interview with Billboard Magazine.
“I’m in drag, I’m kind of Lady Gaga’s drag mother, a bar owner,” she said. “I can’t give much more away than that. But it’s gonna be really fun, it’s not a giant role but it’s a good role that’s memorable. I’ve heard from a lot of people on the team I’m going to be very happy.”
Gaga and RuPaul's Drag Race have a history with one another, as she was the guest judge on the first episode of season 9 in 2017. Shangela, who was part of three different seasons but not season 9 (she was a finalist on the most recent edition of All Stars), has nothing but praise to say about the legendary pop idol.
“When you look up to someone, idolize them, and their journey and experience and how they work, and then you get to work with them and see they’re everything you dreamed. And she was everything I had ever dreamed she would be. Professional, kind, funny.”
Shangela will also be starring in Bianca Del Rio's Hurricane Bianca: From Russia With Hate, which will be hitting theaters in May. A Star is Born is slated to open in theaters on October 5th.
