Seventeen years after the cult classic Legally Blonde first had us bending and snapping our pink little hearts out, the team behind the film is gearing up to bring Elle Woods back to the big screen with Legally Blonde 3.
According to Deadline, writers Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith and Karen McCullah will start writing the next installment in the now trilogy as soon as MGM closes a deal with the film’s star Reese Witherspoon. The film’s original producer Marc Platt and Adam Siegel will produce the movie and will be joined by Witherspoon who has since come a long way from her Bruiser-carrying days.
In 2003, Legally Blonde was followed up with sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde which was made tons of money at the box office, but was not nearly as loved as the first.
Nothing has been said about the film’s plot or story ideas, but if you think about the current political climate, you can imagine how Elle Woods would be dealing with today’s issues in her sparkly pink own way.
