Henry Golding Makes History as GQ’s First-Ever Asian ‘Man of the Year’ Cover Star

31-year-old British Malaysian actor and model Henry Golding has had quite the year. In addition to starring in smash hit Crazy Rich Asians, which grossed over $234 million worldwide, he played a lead role in Paul Feig’s hit comedic thriller A Simple Favor opposite Blake Lively.

Now Golding has made history as the first-ever Asian man to grace GQ’s “Men of the Year” cover.

In the story and spread that hit the internet yesterday, Golding is named GQ’s Star of the Year. Golding is one of four “Men (and one Woman) of the Year” covers, joining Jonah Hill, Serena Williams and Michael B. Jordan.

This is a major breakthrough for Golding and for the entertainment industry–which historically has emasculated Asian men.
