The Nightmare on Elm Street series is such an anomaly. The first movie is legit great with a few moments of stupidity that kind of add to the charm. The second is the gayest horror film of all time, hands-down. The third installment, Dream Warriors, really did some interesting stuff and had memorable characters. Then, after that, the series basically turned to total shit, with the exception of the wonderful New Nightmare.
One of the highlights of the series for all red-blooded gay male viewers was cutie pie Joey, played by Rodney Eastman. He was the adorable, sensitive mute kid who occasionally was in a state of tantalizing undress. He was one of the few survivors of Dream Warriors. Spoiler alert (for a 30-year-old movie): He was killed off early in part IV, Dream Master.
I’m being completely honest: This is the moment I lost interest in the series. Joey was hot and sweet, and he should have kept living through these things. It also didn’t help that the surrealism and invention in the first three Nightmare movies was increasingly neglected in favor of dumb gore starting with Dream Master.
Here’s some good news at least:
Eastman posed nude. It’s a black and white image I hadn’t seen until right now. Great body. I’m going to um–um– hold on to it?
