Did you know that penis whitening is a thing in Asia?
Specifically, the country of Thailand is finding an increase in the trend.
Lelux Hospital in Bangkok is saying that men are constantly coming in to get a laser whitening procedure done to their private area.
Of course, this is a trend that’s mostly popular with gay men, but the ages of men seeking treatment range between 22 and 55-year-olds.
Bunthita Wattanasiri, the manager of the Skin and Laser Department at the hospital, told AFP:
“These days a lot of people are asking about it. We get around 100 clients a month, three to four clients a day.”
The procedure is that not that expensive with it costing about 20922.20 Thai Baht ($650) for five total sessions.
That said, the procedure has a lot of risks that come with it as the country’s public health ministry has warned.
They say that there are multiple health risks such as pain, inflammation, and scars. Even worse, this could affect the eventual sex lives and reproduction systems of the patients.
Unfortunately, Thailand is no different than the rest of the world in its obsession with lighter skin, which could be the cause for this trend. But will having a lighter skinned penis really be worth the potential health risks?
