The Queer Eye star faced instant backlash online from fans who were “disappointed” in him for “lending his celebrity to this” after he was announced as a contestant.

“First, I have no say who is on the cast and didn’t find out till this morning that he is on!” he responded on Twitter. “But I’ll tell you this… I’m excited to sit down w/ him and engage in a respectful conversations.”

“Only way things get better is if we try to educate those who have different POV than us,” he added in the tweet.

Karamo made matters worse during an interview with Access Hollywood where he referred to Sean as a “really sweet guy” and a “good guy.”

The backlash was inevitable as fellow celebs and fans blasted the former Real World star for his words. “Get a f***ing grip,” author Roxane Gay tweeted at him. “There is no friendship with people who enable fascism.”

Karamo also blocked many Twitter users who came for him over the Spicer debacle before he ultimately took his page down.

Sean, who was Trump’s press secretary from January to July 2017, has stayed quiet about the matter on social media but still has an Instagram photo of him with Karamo from the Good Morning America set alongside fellow contestants Hannah Brown, Lauren Alaina and Kate Flannery

  1. FRED HILL…. 1,000%. I swear to god I hate this community sometimes and wish I wasn’t associated to it. We go on the attack instantly. Karamo isn’t marrying Spicer. He isn’t promoting Spicer. He isn’t running around with Spicer. He made a respectful comment about being a fucking mature adult and respecting other people who have different views than you. What happens? Every little keyboard warrior starts attacking the main. 2020 will be no different for America. We aren’t willing to work together. The Blue party, the LGBT community, we’re as bad as conservatives with our unwillingness to come together. We’ll just repeat the same recipe over again… and expect a different result. What’s that called again?? Oh yea, INSANITY.

There are so many other problems with that show, so many bigger problems. Bravo for acting like an adult Karamo.

  2. Maybe instead of calling out Karamo you should call out DWTS for booking Sean and for not allowing gay men to dance with men, instead they force them to dance with women!
