In one of her handful of public appearances since the election, Hillary came out to help honor a dear friend.
Hillary Clinton made a surprise appearance at UNICEF's Snowflake Ball in New York Tuesday to honor Katy Perry, one of the Democratic nominee's biggest celebrity supporters, with the program's Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Award. We're working on embeding the video, but for now, head over to RollingStone.com for the clip.
Perry first endorsed Clinton for president in October 2015 and campaigned for the candidate at numerous fundraisers and rallies.
"I've always had a voice – a singing voice – but I've never had a voice like I've had before," an emotional Perry said following Clinton's speech. "Hillary has lit that voice inside of me, and that light will never go out, it will continue to get brighter and brighter and brighter. Thank you Hillary. You motivate me and so many millions of people. We appreciate you for your incredible work and your heart."
Perry took one subtle swipe at President-elect Donald Trump during her acceptance speech, quipping that, "Even though I've only been on a few field visits, I'm happy I've helped highlight the effects of climate change, which is real." Trump has previously questioned the science behind climate change and has threatened to withdraw from the Paris Agreement. – RollingStone.com
Good to see Clinton out and about after her defeat and congrats Katy!
