When you live or frequent New York City, you will find that people have a variety of professions that go outside the norm of what you would expect. Sure there are doctors, bankers, lawyers and but in a city like New York, you will find that people find ways to pay the rent that go beyond what is “viewed” as normalcy and into a world that you may actually find interesting and very satisfactory. One of those happens to be the art of erotic hypnotism, and there is one particular guy who knows all about it.
I became aware of this concept about 6 years ago when I met the guy, named Neil, who specialized in this all over The Big Apple. The concept itself has levels of what kinky can really be but also can help cure you of your bad habits albeit smoking, overeating, and many other factors that are affecting your life. The question is, what exactly is this method and how well does it work?
I spoke with Neil over the weekend to get answers to all of this, including the variety of methods included withing erotic hypnotism and the benefits each client receives when they do a session.
For those who are unaware… what exactly is erotic hypnotism?
Erotic hypnosis is the recreational use of hypnosis in an erotic context. Hypnosis can let someone feel any sensation they’re able to imagine, as well as enhance any existing sensation. These phenomena lend themselves perfectly to erotic use. The control aspect of hypnosis makes it suitable to incorporate into BDSM scenes. It can even be a BDSM scene on its own. Think bondage without ropes or chains, having someone believe they’re a slave, realistic pup play, and lots more!
What got you into this profession in the first place and how long have you been doing it?
I had always been interested in hypnosis. I remember taking out a book about it from the library when I was 9. In late 2000, I stumbled upon an online forum about hypnosis and sex, and was instantly intrigued and turned on. I studied hypnosis and spent a lot of time practicing. I discovered I had a knack for it. Initially, I only did erotic hypnosis, but eventually I took a hypnotherapy certification course and incorporated therapeutic hypnosis into my practice. In 2009 I switched to doing hypnosis as my full time job.
The sessions on your site ranging from erotic to therapeutic. What is the major difference between them?
Erotic hypnosis is purely recreational – just for fun. Therapeutic hypnosis is about making positive changes in a person’s life, such as replacing bad habits with good ones, getting over phobias, or sleeping better. Since I do erotic hypnosis, people find it easy to talk to me and open up about their sexual issues. So helping people (especially gay men) with sexual issues has become my specialty.
Approximately how many sessions does it take for a client to start to feel the effects of what you are trying to help them with, say someone who has insomnia issues?
Everyone reacts differently to hypnosis, so it’s always hard to predict how many sessions are needed to deal with a particular issue. With that said, most people will notice an improvement after one session. And with erotic hypnosis, the fun happens on the first session!
Do you find that clients hire you more for erotic or therapeutic?
I’d say it’s about 50/50, but quite a few clients do both. Why not get motivated to work our and stick to a diet, and get off at the same time???
What has been your craziest client story to date?
After doing erotic hypnosis for a living for so long, I can honestly say that nothing surprises me anymore. I’ve gotten requests to help people live out almost every kink and fetish possible. What would you recommend to a first timer who is nervous about the experience?
There’s no need to be nervous! I’m a professional hypnotist and I respect every client’s wishes and limits. My only agenda is to help each client experience what they’re looking to experience. Is this something you would like to continue doing for quite some time, maybe having it become a major business for yourself?
Hypnosis is my only job, so I guess that constitutes a “major business”. I may transition to doing mostly therapeutic hypnosis when I get too old to be viewed sexually by the majority of gay men, but I think I have quite a few more years before that happens. I love what I do and intend to continue doing it for as long as I’m able to!
