Dr. Mariam Al-Sohel invented a suppository that would cure homosexuality. How you may ask? By getting rid of an “anal worm” that feeds on semen, according to Summit News

I wish I could say that I was making this up, but this woman seems like she’s serious. In the video, she said that homosexual urges develop due to a person being sexually attacked “because there is an anal worm that feeds on semen.” The crowd cheered and said, “Praise be to Allah!” Al-Sohel said that the suppository works by exterminating the worm and that taking the suppository in conjunction with a balanced diet is  “prophetic medicine” that’s in line with the Koran can cure homosexuality. As you can see from the above image, she thinks that this is just science.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Kuwait criminalizes homosexuality and the laws in place in Kuwait can send LGBTQ people to prison for a lengthy period of time so I suppose that if you really reach far you can spin this to make it seem that Al-Sohel’s intentions are altruistic. But only if you reach really far.

I am confused as to how people can think like this and that others agree with what Al-Sohel claims. Also, if the pill works by exterminating an anal worm that feeds on semen, wouldn’t that mean it only works for bottoms? Also, where did Al-Sohel get her medical license? I think it’s best not to think too much about this, actually.

In all seriousness, the fact that so many cheered and agreed with her is quite frightening. Hopefully, something can be done to help people realize that LGBTQ don’t need to be cured and that any kind of ridiculous remedy.

    • Hakken, a religion doesn’t breed stupidity and malice, it’s the people who have been unable to open their minds and are still in the mind set that religion and what was once considered “acceptable” or “the norm” is becoming less a part of today’s world. Times change, and must we change with them. We as a species are constantly evolving and changing our minds about different things and some are even creating their own belief systems as opposed to following a religion. That doesn’t have anything to do with religion. That’s just humans.
There are plenty of religions that say they don’t accept homosexuality but people are more interested in calling out where they are from (America, China, etc.) unless it’s a Muslim saying it. Where I am (Middle East) we don’t say “oh it’s another dumb Muslim spouting off”. We are pretty much the same and say “Silly *insert country here*”.
There are so many people this side of the world, that support LGBTQ 100+%, a LOT of them Muslims. There is a huge ?️‍? community here too. To keep them out of harms way, we (the accepting) keep our mouths shut and support them by protecting them from the people that do not understand (yet ????) that there is nothing wrong with one human loving another, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, etc.
I wish there was more that can be done but for now we can only keep supporting our fellow humans and engage in a positive and healthy dialogue and push it to become a normal talking point and not a condemnation. Baby steps.
      This is my humble opinion.
