A man wearing a pirate costume and a MAGA hat used a sword to slash a San Francisco roller rink customer.
According to NBC Bay Area, a man wearing a pirate costume and a “Make America Great Again” hat was yelling at people outside the Church of 8 Wheels roller rink. It was around 9:50 last night when the incident occurred.
“He was mostly yelling anti-gay rhetoric,” said roller rink owner David Miles Jr.
Eventually, one of the customers leaving the establishment flipped off the harasser. The costumed man then pulled out a long blade from the back of his jacket and slashed the man. Reports of where the victim was cut are conflicting. Some say it was his finger while others say the man was cut from his hand down to his wrist.
Afterward, the culprit ran from the scene, but the victim gave chase.
“I don’t think he realized how bad he got cut, because he chased this guy almost a full block down the street,” said Miles. “He was just bleeding like a horse.”
Miles then noted that the long blade in question was, in fact, an actual sword.
“It was a sword, it was two feet long,” Miles explained.
24-year-old customer and witness Scott Sweeney shared with the San Francisco Chronicle his similar surprise at the weapon.
“In my mind, I didn’t think it was a real sword until we came out later and police were on the scene and there was blood and the hat on ground,” he said.
The suspect is still on the loose and the victim was sent to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Meanwhile, David Miles Jr. is allegedly receiving hateful messages for expressing his distaste for the “MAGA Slasher.”
