A PRIDE event, big or small, is created to show that love is love, life is life, and humans are humans. Whenever I read about a small PRIDE event, I think of two things. One is "you have to start somewhere" and two, not to get too religious, but I go back to my Roman Catholic roots and remember, "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Okay, that's the most religious I have been in years, but religion should be about love and acceptance and what is PRIDE but not that.
POGORICA, Montenegro — Dozens of people have participated in a gay pride event in highly conservative Montenegro where authorities are promising to boost gay rights as part of efforts to join the European Union.
Hundreds of policemen deployed Saturday in downtown Podgorica, the capital, to prevent possible attacks from extremists. Participants in the pride march carried banners reading "born this way" or "equality for everyone."
Activist Danijel Kalezic says Montenegrin gays no longer want to hide. "We don't have enough support from our fathers, mothers, siblings or relatives," he said.

PRIDE protection and allowance may be occurring because of the desire of Montenegro's desire to become part of the EU. If the nation changes its mind about the EU, will it also change its mind about LGBT rights?
