National Coming Out Day – ‘Pretty Boy’ May Hit Home For Some

Some people feel that the day they came out was like another birthday. It's a day where your life starts anew.  You find out who your friends truly are, who in your family support you, and the weight off your shoulders shifts and may even disappear.  I was fortunate that I only lost one friend / former college roommate.  Just one person that I know of didn't care for me being gay.  That's it.  To say I was fortunate is an understatement.

Coming out is like a bottle of Rogaine … results may vary.  You never will truly know how others will process you being honest to yourself and about yourself.  There's really only one way to find out.

Today is National Coming Out Day.  Founded on October 11, 1988 by Robert Eichsberg and Jean O'Leary, it marked the anniversary of the 1987 March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights.

Did you come out on NCOD? Was that the catalyst for your transformation?

Or was there something that just clicked and made you tell the world?

The makers of "Pretty Boy" look at a young man dealing with his coming out.  Should it happen? Is his birthday the catalyst that will make him break out abd be out to the world?

The trailer drew me in.  I haven't downloaded the movie yet, but it's on my list.

Is your coming out story like a movie?

Was it more stressful that anything?

Was it all rainbows and unicorns?

Was it all locker room honesty?
