Within my post this Sunday titled "It Was A Long Weekend Full Of Protests, Marches, And Copy Cakes. Are We Inspired?", I had the following to say

During the whole Women's March coverage, I kept saying to myself, this is what PRIDE should be.  It's just my opinion, but Pride should be a world event on the same day.  It should be more about politics, acceptance, love, progression, respect, and not "I need to look good in a speedo for the float so I better lay off the water and food for days and just eat shaved lettuce."

We should choose a day / weekend, may it be an anniversary weekend of Stonewall, Pulse, or another designated time where we all join together and show our voice.  Maybe an original day or scheduled like Mother's Day or Father's Day.  Will it be as large as the Women's March?  I do not know.  Do we have enough to march for?  Oh yes.  We know we do have many equalities that are out of our reach.  We should learn from this march and plan a movement of our own.  It will be a long four years before that temp job ends, and even after that, there will most likely be more to fight for. Maybe we can not only enjoy these pictures below, but also be inspired to do more for our own fight.

It looks like I was not the only one thinking we need to organize and show our colors, too.  As of now, there are major plans to have a "National Pride March" in Washington, D.C. this June.  The following announcement was posted to the National Pride Facebook page on January 23rd.

Hey everyone! Thanks for the initial interest. Just want to make it clear that the great people organizing DC Pride are exploring ways to address the community's voice. Until a decision is made, I suggest we all vow to attend DC's Pride this June. Let's make it the BIGGEST to date! If we all show up to celebrate, the sheer volume of attendees will make our voices heard in the nation's capital. So mark your calendars, make your hotel reservations, book your travel, and plan on attending DC Pride this year!

The newest announcement elaborates on the plans so far.

NATIONAL PRIDE MARCH
"In Solidarity!"

Additional details about the March will follow, but we are working in conjunction with the Capital Pride Alliance, in Washington, DC to incorporate the March into the 2017 Celebration of Pride in the Nation’s Capital. We want to build off the momentum the strong women in the US and around the world started on January 21st. They set the tone with their leadership and it is our intention as a community to follow their lead and play our part. This will be an ALL inclusive and peaceful event!

We urge all supporters, friends, and family to descend on DC for the Pride 2017 weekend (June 8-11th) to make sure our voices are heard. If you cannot attend the March in Washington, DC, we urge you to reach out to your local Pride organizations to assist in creating solidarity through your existing Pride events. Let’s make this truly a “National Pride March” that spreads from coast to coast and shows solidarity through our Pride movement.

Should you follow them on Twitter @NatlPrideMarch and National Pride Facebook page?  Go for it!  We have seen some marches planned in the past and they have not occurred. We wish these organizers the best of luck!  We so want this to happen!

In the mean time, we're going to price out some hotels and flights.
