Want to see New York City’s Gay Pride someday? Well, now you can have your first time twice.
This year, the New York Pride March will be broadcast on tv live next month on Sunday, June 25, 2017. New York’s WABC-TV will be the partner broadcasting the event. Also, not only will the pride march be covered, but so too will several other pride events.
Pink News got the scoop on the event and got a few words from Chris Frederick, the Managing Director for NYC Pride, and Dave Davis, the President and General Manager of WABC-TV.
Fredereick said, “WABC-TV will broadcast the annual trek down Fifth Avenue from Noon – 3 p.m. on Channel 7 and also stream the event on its website, abc7ny.com.”
“This important new partnership comes at a time of political and social turmoil in many communities.”
“We’re excited to have Tri-state viewers welcome us into their homes for what will be an unprecedented opportunity for the LGBT community’s collectiven voices to be heard.”
Davis then added: “Channel 7 prides itself on being able to bring important, local celebrations of community spirit to as many people as possible.”
“We look forward to making this year’s March the best ever.”
The ACLU, a legal team that has helped to fight off plenty of Trumps Administration tactics this year, will be leading the annual march and parade.
In addition, this year’s NYC Pride theme is “We Are Proud” and an official statement states that it, “speaks to the LGBT community’s unwavering ability to rise and be proud, even in the face of the existing political environment.”
