Okay okay…Lee Pace IS Part of the Queer Community!

Just days ago, actor Lee Pace said in an interview with W Magazine that his sexuality did not define him or his life as an actor.  He didn’t want to be labeled as ‘gay’…or anything else for that matter. Many ran with his response, including us here at Instinct, as a conversation starter on the importance of pride versus the right to privacy.

But it seems that his response to the question about being gay got a bigger reaction than he had intended because today, Pace has tweeted out another response that feels completely different:

In a recent phone interview, I was asked questions that I wasn’t expecting and found myself momentarily at a loss for the right words. My privacy is important to me, so I protect it. When interviewed by the media, I keep the focus on my work…

As a member of the queer community, I understand the importance of living openly, being counted, and happily owning who I am. That’s how I’ve always lived my life…

Just as it’s been important to me to portray queer characters with dignity for my entire career: A Soldier’s Girl (Showtime. 2003). The Normal Heart (Broadway. 2011). Halt and Catch Fire (AMC. 2014-2017). Angels in America. (Broadway. NOW.) Onward, with Pride.

We’re all for privacy! I mean, my wife doesn’t even know I write for this site—kidding, yes she does, and she’s a man.

It’s great to see that Pace has been able to give a response that he is proud of. He’s still gorgeous…now to wait for who he will be romantically linked to and who he will marry and how many kids they will be expecting and what island they buy—but again, privacy, please.

  1. HE cares. In Hollywood you

HE cares. In Hollywood you DONT want to be labeled -as gay- it seems. As long as that doesnt change you will have those kinds of answers. Jennifer Anniston and Justin theroux also have private lives… yet we know they are str8. its a complety double standard do to the fact that gay actors want to work…

  2. Why is this being given so

Why is this being given so much attention?  Who cares in the long run? He's gay, fine. He's playing head games about his sexuality, come on now!
