Openly Gay Rep Brian Sims Gave Vice President Mike Pence The Middle Finger

Bless Brian Sims.

Brian Sims is the first openly gay lawmaker for the state of Pennsylvania.

Many in Pennsylvania, and Philadelphia especially, were abuzz when the news came that Vice President Mike Pence would be visiting the city.

The House of Representatives member in the 182nd district was no different, and he decided to greet Pence in the best way possible.

In a Facebook post, Sims “welcomed.” Pence to the city of Philadelphia… with a raised middle finger.

The post says:

“OFFICIAL WELCOME: Vice President Mike Pence let me be the first person to officially welcome you to the City of Brotherly Love, and to my District in the State House!

“To be clear, we’re a City of soaring diversity. We believe in the power of all people to live and to contribute: Black, Brown, Queer, Trans, Atheist, Immigrant, we want you and we’ll respect you.

“So keep that in mind while you’re here raising money to attack more families, spread more lies, blaspheme with your bible, and maybe even talk to a woman without your wife in the room.

“We have plenty of them, and they’re pretty much all more powerful and more real than you have ever been.

“So…get bent, then get out!”

Rep. Brian Sims has been known before for fighting homophobic bullies. Back in April, he had to deal with a fellow Pennsylvanian State Rep named Daryl Metcalfe calling him a “Lying Homosexual.” Sims responded by turning his “bigoted colleague” Metcalfe’s attack into a plug for support against homophobia and bigotry in the US Capital.

As for Pence, he is known for his anti-gay rule making from back when he was the governor of Indiana.

The Human Rights Campaign recently released a report that alleges the behind the scenes action Pence has made before and during the Trump administration against LGBTQ people.

The report encompasses his support for gay ‘cure’ therapy, his signing of a controversial Indiana law that gave businesses the right to discriminate, and his work on the religious freedom movement while in the White House.

  1. The point of the matter is,

The point of the matter is, our Goverment is playing with the lives of parents and children. What makes you think your group won't be next? Just look back at the last world war and Germany! Don't be stupid, stupid! I'll send the finger too to any Goverment official that disrespects our laws and the people of this planet!

  2. As much as I sympathize with

As much as I sympathize with Rep. Sims' feelings, he does nothing but demean his office by acting in such a manner.  I'm sorry, but he should have acted better.  Flipping off the Vice President may be emotionally cathartic, but it is also childish, immature, and unbecoming of an elected official.  If anything, I am very disappointed in his actions.  Sadly, this stunt will probably limit his political career and come back to bite him in the ass if he tries for higher elected office.

We love Brian… Maybe he'll be the first gay president

But we don't love it when Instinct make sloppy mistakes. Brian is a member of the Pennsylvania legislature. "Congressman" is a member of the United States House of Congress
