Swifties get ready, because Taylor Swift is back!

The former country queen turned pop goddess released the first song and video, “Me”, from her upcoming 7th studio album on Friday, April 26.

The video, directed by Dave Meyers, features the super adorable Brendon Urie from Panic! At The Disco.

“Me” is Taylor’s most LGBTQ-inclusive video yet. There is a ton of rainbow imagery seen throughout, pretty much from beginning to end. It comes as no surprise that she would do this given the amount of support she’s given to our community in recent years, notably her donating $113,000 to fight anti-LGBT bills and performing at a gay couple’s engagement party earlier this year.

This is also far different from the dark and twisted world she was in for most of the videos released from her album Reputation like “…Ready For It?” and “Look What You Made Me Do.”

The footage begins with a slithering snake (another dig at Kim Kardashian, Tay Tay?) that spontaneously combust into several colorful butterflies. The next scene shows Taylor and Brandon arguing (in French) in an apartment where she refers to her cats as their “young daughters”.

There are a ton of references that fans have picked up from the 4-minute footage. Brendon jumps out of the window and floats to the ground at one point which evoked similarities to Mary Poppins. He also proposes to Taylor which she rejects. Fans theorized that this is a response to tabloids claiming that she and boyfriend Joe Alwyn are betrothed.

The song, not surprisingly, is already number one on the iTunes chart. “Me” will more than likely debut high on the Billboard Hot 100 charts next week as a result. This would be her sixth number one single should she reach the top spot. She first achieved this feat seven years ago with “We Are Never Getting Back Together.”

What are your thoughts on Taylor’s new song and video?
