While at the American Music Awards, Eichner took the reins to remind audience members and tv viewers to make sure to vote next month.

While standing next to actress Kathryn Hahn to present the Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist award, Eichner went off script to urge Americans to vote.

“Young people of America,” he said. “The biggest election of our lifetime is happening.”

“Tonight is the last night to register in 20 states in the country. Please grab your friends, tell them to vote.”

 He then added:

“Now is the time. If you believe in equality for women, for people of color, for the LGBTQ community, if you believe that climate change is real and that we need to do something about it, don’t let anyone tell you your vote won’t matter.”
