James McAvoy Returns As Mr. Tumnus And Says He’s Dating A Man

James McAvoy has taken off his shirt again and gotten back in his goat hooves. Even better, his character is now gay.

For a lot of younger millennials and Gen Xs, the Chronicles of Narnia was one of our first big film franchises. Midway into the Harry Potter series and before the Marvel Cinematic Universe was a thing, there was 2005’s The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. And many may have forgotten, but one certain actor played a friendly role in the film. One that he was happy to return to.

Hosting SNL this past weekend, James McAvoy returned to the role of Mr. Tumnus from the Narnia films.

Tumnus, the half-man/half-goat Satyr, had an honest conversation about sparking the fantasies and sexualities of the film’s audience.

McAvoy, as Tumnus, does this by talking to three women (Cecily Strong, Aidy Bryant, and Kate McKinnon) who grew up crushing on McAvoy and his character hard.

“Let me guess—it was my non-threatening masculinity,” Tumnus guesses “I’m sort of jacked but still in a little bit of a British way, you know?”

“I’ve become a unlikely sex symbol for a very specific sort of woman—sort of a lazy Hermione, if you will,” he continues. “To you, I am the perfect combination of man, animal, scarf, and flute music.”

Let’s be honest folks, it wasn’t just the Hermiones that got an interest in the shirtless actor and Satyr growing up. There were plenty of Urkels and Quientins that felt the same. If only the SNL cast had included a male comedian in the group of “bookish” crushers.

This is especially important as Tumnus later reveals he’s gay and living with former King Edmund!
