Young kids on dating apps … we've talked about this before. We hope that we as adults would take the correct and mature and moral high roads, but there are those out there that see under age men online and don't do the right thing.
And then there are those that are out there that are in search of hooking up with under age kids via the internet. One such man got what he deserved when he was recently sentenced to nine life terms in jail. The head of a pedophile ring who used dating/sex apps to recruit members, Michael Emerton was sentenced in Hertfordshire, England after he admitted in court to 20 counts of sexual crimes against children. He explained how he used apps like Grindr, Skype and TruNude to meet with other men so that they could have sex together in front of children.
It makes you wonder what else this 33-year-old man has done. That's kind of what happened He was initially convicted earlier this year in March and the sentence then was for just seven life sentences. But now, on Wednesday, he was given two more life sentences after he admitted to other crimes, including conspiring with others to commit sexual activity with a child.
Emerton was not the ony man in the pedophile ring. Other men were sentenced as follows:
Matthew Webby, 30 – 9 years with a five year license extension
Robert Lindsay, 39 – 5 years 3 months years with a three year license extension
Paul Stevens, 54 – 10 years with a five year license extension
Simon Wintle, 44 – 2 years 6 months.
Thomas Webby, 28 to be sentenced on January 24.
“The nine life sentences he has received reflects the disturbing nature of his actions,” Chief Inspector Dee Perkins said.
The information found on the computer revealed that Emerton was using Grindr, Skype and TruNude to communicate with the other men in the ring.
He would also use the streaming service to stream the abuse of children.
The computer led to over 100 other potential suspects being found, with one suspect in the US being arrested just 48 hours after the computer was initially seized. – pinknews.co.uk
We are not linking pedophilia and homosexuality. That is a danger and a wrong that we have been fighting for years. But what we do have to acknowledge is that these illegal activities are using LGBT, sex, and other apps online that we need to help maintain or require more restrictions in order to protect our youth. We need to do as much as we can legally to protect everyone that decides to head out onto the world wide web.
