Ms. Jackson, we’re nasty and we want it now!

Where has Janet Jackson been? It's been since 2008 when she released her 10th studio album, Discipline.  She also secretly married Qatari billionaire Wissam Al Mana.  There have been few rare appearances.  Her fans rejoiced when she was seen out shopping in Milan this February.  Jackson has almost a Tina Turner quality about her for we knows she's still alive, talented, and phenomenal, but salivate at the smallest glimpse of her when she appears in public next to us lowly humans.

Leave it to Janet to break her own silence.  From her own lips, she announces what she has in store next for our relationship.

"I promised you’d hear it from my lips and now you will. This year, new music, new world tour, a new movement. I’ve been listening. Let’s keep the conversation going,"  –etonilne.com

What will this new record be like? Everyone refers to Rythim Nation as her epic album, but I am more of a janet … kind of guy.  Will the new record be sexual, political, or just down right creative like everything else she has done?  Here's some great speculation from janetjackson.com

The rumors materialized from a number of promotional materials at music retailer F.Y.E. – indicating the release date of a new set from Janet, via Atlantic Records (Janet was dropped from Island Def Jam in 2009 and has since remained unsigned). Of course, Janet’s camp has not responded and remained mum on the rumors… until yesterday.

On the morning of May 10, longtime collaborator Jimmy Jam posted a tweet  saying “Truth… ‘Just can’t feel casual bout casualties’ #ConversationsInACafe” with a photo attached, displaying the quote – handwritten by Janet. While Jimmy never confirmed it being written by Janet, fans have little doubt it is Jackson’s.

Later in the day, Jimmy tweeted again: “Mother: ‘To bring up with care’ ‘To look after kindly and protectively’. That’s all of us! #ConversationsInACafe” – this time, a photo of an impoverished child. This tweet, however, Janet retweeted, saying: “The depth of this” and pinned said tweet to the top of her page.

Kathy Ireland also tweeted about Sex Trafficking, which Janet retweeted as well. Then, she retweeted a message from a fan, saying “shouldn’t we follow everyone Janet follows so we don’t miss the conversation ” – implying there is more on this “conversation” to come.

This very well could be a promotional push for a charity, however, combined with the rumors of an upcoming album and Janet’s penchant for socially conscious music – fans can’t help but wonder…

With the “state of the world” today, we certainly could use more of that. Unfortunately, some of the issues that plagued the world in 1989 – the year that Janet dropped RN – are still issues today.  So, who better to shed light on the darkness than Ms. Jackson?

Not to mention, it’s been over 7 years since Janet released her last studio album, Discipline, and even longer since she released a successful album that was beloved by fans and critics alike (arguably, 2001′s All For You); so, if Janet is to come back it needs to be worth it. It needs to be powerful. It needs to be unquestionably great. It needs to be Janet Jackson at her best. Such a project would likely be just that (and, if we may suggest, collaborate with Kendrick Lamar and J.Cole, Jan).

Janet is indeed at her best when she has something important to say – whether it be about social issues (Rhythm Nation), sexual awakening (janet.) or introspective musings (The Velvet Rope) – her best work has been the result of just that. – janetjackson.com

Do you think they are right?  Will this message encompass some personal message like her previous releases?  Will she fight for a cause through her music?  I am not sure how "your smooth and shiny feels so good against my lips sugar" sends a message, but if she can produce great memorable hits like she has, I'm ready for any nation, rhythm or not, where Janet is in charge and blessing us with great music.

What is your favorite Janet Jackson hit?

  1. yay! i cant wait! i love

yay! i cant wait! i love Janet!! and janet is beautiful. also, lets not forgot, of all the divas, the most successful single any of them have had since radio has deemed them "too old" (solo singles) was Janets FEEDBACK in 2008, which was a top 15 hit on the hot 100. there is plenty of room for all people in music. people now say oh after such and such age you are too old. but back in the day Tina Turner didnt even become HUGE until she was in her 40s. Cher was in her prime in her 40s.

and not having a new cd out in 7 years and coming back now is tacky? that poor idiot of a poster

  2. Janet is NOT pretty really

Janet is NOT pretty really much at all… She is about to old to have kids or have a comeback… Her best work was in the 80's and 90's… Having been gone for 7 years plus 50 years old will jus look tacky…. Especially in the age of the music we have now and what's popular.  The kids will call her grandma like Madonna if they even know who she is… haha
