The last time I thought of R&B Singer, R. Kelly, was when Lady GaGa made the awful decision to collaborate with him for her underrated album, ArtPop. She even knew it was a piss poor decision after the fact and had to lower herself once again to work with Christina Aguilera, giving us another awful match up.
Do you recall the duo's tragic performance on The Voice where Christina screams over GaGa?
"What you want, Lady GaGaaaaaaaa!"
Okay, moving on…R Kelly, 50, is back in the news again and, of course, with vile controversy.
Buzzfeed Journalist Jim DeRogatis interviewed one of the singer's girlfriend's parents and his former assistants, and inner circle. The parents are desperately trying to rescue their daughter, an aspiring singer, from Kelly's grasp.
One of the parents who requests to be called "J" recalls first meeting Kelly:
"When we got to go backstage with R. Kelly, we stayed there over two hours. One-on-one with just me and my daughter and him. We went back to talk about the music. He listened to her CD. He was going to help her with her CD, and I was really impressed with him at first, because I have always been an R. Kelly fan."
J quit her job and now is a makeshift detective, attempting to save her daughter. However, in the eyes of the law, no one except J's daughter can leave her situation. She isn't a missing person and is telling authorities she's choosing to stay with Kelly. Her parents are furious, claiming Kelly has their daughter in a "cult".
The last time J saw her daughter was in December 2016.
"It was as if she was brainwashed. [She] looked like a prisoner — it was horrible,” she said. “I hugged her and hugged her. But she just kept saying she’s in love and [Kelly] is the one who cares for her. I don’t know what to do. I hope that if I get her back, I can get her treatment for victims of cults. They can reprogram her. But I wish I could have stopped it from happening."
Cheryl Mack, Kelly's former assistant, confirmed the parents worst fears:
"[The women in Kelly’s entourage initially think] 'This is R. Kelly, I’m going to live a lavish lifestyle.' No. You have to ask for food. You have to ask to go use the bathroom. … [Kelly] is a master at mind control. He is a puppet master. [The women who live with Kelly] are required to call him 'Daddy'."
The assistant even went on to describe the women Kelly is allegedly holding captive.
- A 31-year-old “den mother” who “trained” newcomers on how Kelly liked to be pleasured sexually. She had been best friends since high school with the girl in the videotape for which Kelly was tried in 2008. She recently parted ways with Kelly, these sources say.
- A 25-year-old woman who also has been part of Kelly’s scene for seven years.
- A recent arrival, a 19-year-old model who has been photographed in public with Kelly and named on music gossip websites — a rarity among the women in his circle.
- An Atlanta songwriter who began her relationship with Kelly around 2009, when she was 19. (She is now 26.)
- And an 18-year-old singer from Polk County, Florida. Mack said the Florida singer is Kelly’s “favorite — his number-one girl.”

Kelly confiscates the women’s cell phones, they said, so they cannot contact their friends and family; he gives them new phones that they are only allowed to use to contact him or others with his permission. Kelly films his sexual activities, Kitti Jones said, and shows the videos to men in his circle.
Mack, said Kelly almost always tells the women to dress in jogging suits because “he doesn’t want their figures to be exposed; he doesn’t want them to look appealing.” She said when other men are in the same room, Kelly “would make the girls turn around and face the wall in their jogging suits because he doesn’t want them to be looked at by anyone else.”
What on Earth?! This is clearly sex trafficking! These allegations are absolutely terrifying! It's hard for me to believe that this is all made up!
Linda Mensch, Kelly's Attorney, released a statement according to Variety:
"Mr. Robert Kelly is both alarmed and disturbed at the recent revelations attributed to him. Mr. Kelly unequivocally denies such allegations and will work diligently and forcibly to pursue his accusers and clear his name.”
To continue adding fuel to fire, Variety is reporting that the parents are calling for a Press Conference!
This could be the groundbreaking story of the summer. I've already made up my mind about Kelly's involvement, but won't get started yet. You should definitely take the time to read the interview and come to your own opinion. This is something you simply cannot miss.
