Roseanne Barr’s Downfall Continues After Her Show is Canceled

The past 24 hours for Roseanne Barr and everyone on her now canceled titular show has been nothing short of a whirlwind and its all due to a racist tweet that she made.

ABC's Entertainment President Channing Dungey released a statement on Tuesday afternoon that the network was pulling Roseanne only hours after she tweeted out a racist comment about former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett, calling her the offspring of the “Muslim Brotherhood & Planet of the Apes.”

She quickly apologized after and said she was leaving Twitter, but the damage was already done. Before Channing announced that the show was pulled, comedian Wanda Sykes, who was a consulting producer on the reboot, said that she would not be returning to the show. Roseanne's castmate and The Talk panelist Sara Gilbert called her comments "abhorrent" and that she was disappointed in her actions. Then the show was pulled early Tuesday afternoon.

Things have gotten even worse for Roseanne since then. Reruns from the original series that Viacom aired have been officially pulled according to The New York Post, and she was dropped by her talent agency ICM Partners

“We are all greatly distressed by the disgraceful and unacceptable tweet from Roseanne Barr this morning,” the agency’s leadership said in an internal memo, Deadline reported.

She went back to Twitter later on in the day, after saying she would leave it, and started retweeting supportive posts made about her. She also blamed the sleeping aid Ambien for what she wrote about Valerie, but those tweets were later deleted. She even retweeted one that attacked Channing:

  1. They should have killed her

They should have killed her off and continued the show and called it the Connors. .where she had life insurance to get a bigger home so Jackie can move in and becky but constantly needs work done on it..it's a no brainer. .the cast and workers shouldn't suffer.
