So not only is RuPaul waiting to hear about that new talk show he tested for in July, but now he’ll be the judge on a new talent show.
A new CBS Press Release shares that Ru will be joined by Faith Hill, Drew Barrymore, and James Corden in a new talent competition reality series titled The World’s Best.
The pitch for the series, created by The Voice and American Idol creators Mark Burnett and Mike Darnell, is that it will feature acts from every genre imaginable from international contestants. They will be introduced by host James Corden.
After that, the contestants will have to please the three judges, RuPaul, Barrymore, and Hill. On top of our celebrity judges, the contestants will also have to awe the “wall of the world,” 50 experts from “every field of entertainment.” The winner from the show will then be crowned The World’s Best.
“It’s only fitting that The World’s Best perform in front of the world’s best,” said Sharon Vuong, CBS’ SVP, Alternative Programming for CBS. “James, Drew, Faith and RuPaul are all amazing talents who have excelled in their respective fields on a global scale. We can’t wait for them to bring their distinct voices to a show that’s unlike any other.”
“The very name of the show defined the caliber of judges we sought out and ultimately got. Drew, RuPaul and Faith are incredibly accomplished superstars whose talents encompass every area of entertainment. Along with James, The World’s Best will now be the gold standard of competition shows,” said Mike Darnell who’s also the President of Warner Bros.
So far, the series is set for 10 episodes, which are being produced by Warner Horizon Unscripted & Alternative Television, MGM Television and Fulwell 73 Productions. The show will premiere sometime in 2019.
