Like a lot of LGBT people, when I was younger, I spent a lot of time participating in activities where I could be most authentically me and figure myself out: playing My Little Pony, styling my best friend's hair, and when not staring too long at the underwear section of those catalogs slipped in the Sunday paper, totally geeking out to Super Mario Brothers for hours (and to this day I still have a thing for an Italian in overalls… anyway, I digress). Needless to say, when I stumbled across this gem of a video this morning via gizmodo.com, my inner gay geek nearly spat glitter, rainbows and unicorns all over the place.
In this clip below you'll discover a sheng, an ancient Chinese woodwind instrument, that apparently was created centuries ago for this young girl to play the Super Mario Brothers theme song and completely blow. your. mind. Watch!
