All the facts are not known at this time, but another transgender woman has been shot and killed in America.

A drag performer was shot dead Saturday night (Feb. 25) outside a shopping center in New Orleans East, according to a relative who identified the victim as a transgender woman known as Chyna Doll Dupree.

Police said the victim was found shot several times in the 4300 block of Downman Road at about 8:30 p.m. and died at the scene. The Orleans Parish coroner's office will release the victim's name and cause of death.

Neighbors said they heard eight to 10 gunshots.

A woman who asked not to be named said Dupree was her niece and identifies as a transgender woman. She said the performer is a New Orleans native and has toured in shows across the country.

"A very loving person," the woman said. "She didn't do nothing to nobody."

The woman also gave Dupree's name as Walter Flemming, and Facebook lists her name as Chyna Gibson.

A friend, who also asked not to be named, said Dupree had recently arrived from her current home in California to celebrate Mardi Gras with friends and family. "She was just a really good person," the friend said. "Everyone loved her. This is unnecessary." – NOLA.com

This comes a little over a month after the sharing of a troubling video on Facebook of two men in New Orleans allegedly hunting down a transgender woman.  The video is very disturbing to watch.  In it, one man cheers on the other by chanting "Shoot that bitch" while the man on the street holds a gun in one hand and smacks the victim across the face with his other hand.

And just three days ago, we learned of Keke Collier from Chicago.

The latest trans murder happened in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood on Tuesday, and our sister we lost way too soon is named Keke Collier.

Chicago Police responded to a call of shits fired in the 7300 block of South May Street around 6:14 AM CST and found when they arrived Collier lying in the street suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest, arm  and hand.

The 24 year old Collier was transported to Advocate Christ Hospital where she succumbed to her wounds.   She is now the fourth trans woman in the US, all trans women of color, who has been murdered in 2017.  – transgriot.blogspot.com

Where is our magic wand so we can swirl it in the air and make this stop?!?  Do we know these murders are hate crimes? Are they hate crimes just because a transgender woman is the victim?  No.  Killings do happen because people are people, but if the motivation to kill another is based on one of these differences, if the drive to to the act is because the other is LGBT, then yes, it is a hate crime in many states (see more info in After LGBTQ-Friendly Church Vandalism, North Carolina Considers Hate Crime Law Additions).

We will have to wait for more information to definitely know if Chyna and Keke's deaths are hate crimes. No matter if it is a hate crime or not, we've lots two fellow human beings.

Watching the above video and seeing the mentality that is out there, we have a long way to go.  Remember, the men posted that video themselves to Facebook. They were proud.

To remember Chyna, here she is in one of her performances.  Our thoughts go out to her family and loved ones.
