Traveling Home For The Holidays Doesn’t Mean The Toys Need To Stay Home

When you’re off for an extended vacation by yourself, you may want to bring along a plaything, something that may get you through a lonely night if the hook-up apps are not offering up anything wonderful or something that will help you release some stress while visiting the relatives for way too long. The question is, how do you pack it, them, Raphael, or whatever you’ve named your personal pleasure device.

Gabrielle Kassel, a writer for Greatist.com has some words of advice on how to pack whatever helps you get your rocks off.

Kassell actually called a TSA representative to find out the ins and outs and ins and out and .. excuse me, to find out what the TSA recommends when bringing along the things that make us go aaaaauuuuuooooaaahhhhhoooooohhhhh.

The TSA rep states that most sex toys can be put in either your carry-on or your checked bag. In this post, we’ve put some funny videos of people being pranked with sex toys in their carry on bags. They were mainly stopped because the prankers put liquids next to the sex toys. I am sure the TSA x-ray operators have seen it all, but when it comes to liquids, they will need to stop and search.

Kassell also brought forth some other experts on how we should travel with sex toys.

1. Battery-operated is better for travel.

We’ve traveled with our beard trimmer and that’s come on by accident and been dead on arrival. Luckily noting was cut up, but what if your plastic Jolly-rodger turned on and penetrated everything in your bag? That’s all fine if it’s covered in toothpaste when you arrive, but when the beast slips into the ON position in the TSA line, there may be a different outcome.

Remove the batteries. There you go. No worries. But seriously, who has real removable battery operated items these days? Most have the usb rechargeable batteries. There’s a solution. Go to town on yourself before you pack your bags. In other words, let the charge on the rechargeable batteries wear down or run down before you pack them away.

And if you’re REALLY worried about things getting a head start on your trip before you do, search out for a travel companion that has a travel lock on it so you and it are ready to go when you land.

2. Leak-proof and lock away the lube

Ever been to a hook-up and the guy has the 4 liter bottle of lube next to his bed? Well that is where it belongs. Don’t be bringing that on the plane. Lube is a liquid and yes, lube gos a long way. So the 3 ounce maximum amount should be enough for your travels. if you only buy in bulk, break free and buy smaller or just get a leak-proof bottle, then throw it in a zip lock baggie and keep it near your other small vials of liquids. Don’t be hiding it in a shoe somewhere. Own that you need some slippery stuff to get off or in.

3. Stow it or own it

If you have the checked bag, throw junior in there and call it good. If you’re just doing the carry-on, then carry the toy on and own it. Don’t hide it in a shoe or sock or wrapped in 4 pairs of jeans. Just leave it out in the open in the bag it came in or even a see-through ziplock. Even just pack it right on top so if there is a search, they “see what you’re packin.” You’re an adult and like to have fun. Keep your head high when they see what makes you squirm. Maybe you’ll even get a wink or a number out of it or strike up a conversation with the guy behind you in the security line.

4. Do your homework before you go – Domestic vs International.

Your whole bedside drawer may not be able to make the trip with you. The TSA’s “What Can I Bring” page will help you find out what can be packed and where.

Kassell elaborates: “Dildos” and “handcuffs,” for instance, are allowed. But “batons” and “whips” and other BDSM gear that could be categorized as weapons, are not.

That should be pretty good for domestic, but we also know that some nations don’t even want any LGBT people in their nation, let alone sex toys.

For instance, Stuart Nugent, a sex toy company’s brand manager, says, “nowhere in the Middle East will allow you to bring in anything that’s identifiable as a sex toy.” So if it looks like a back massager or a dolphin or a bunny rabbit, you may be able to get it through, but a dick or a fist, hmmmm, probably not. There’s no international web page that will tell us where rubber fists are allowed, so if you really need that extra hand while traveling, you may need to look for the custom’s page of the nation you are traveling to in advance.
