Leave it to comedic news sources to find the humor (or at least try to) from ridiculous news updates.
Many of us have kept up with the Jussie Smollett case since news broke about it late last month. But after some time, Smollett’s reports of the alleged attack have been put into question. Chicago residents were first to express doubt over details about the incident and now the two brothers connected to the incident claim that Smollett faked the entire thing.
This entire Jussie Smollett situation has become a circus show. One that could give bigots increased fervor and rhetoric.
On that matter, Smollett shared some poignant thoughts.
“Who the f*** would make something like this up or add something to it?… You do such a disservice when you lie about things like this,” he said to Good Morning America.
Smollett couldn’t be more correct. In terms of lying about the situation, Jussie Smollett is innocent until proven guilty. But, things are not looking good for the actor.
While that doom and gloom hangs over our heads, The Daily Show is trying to update everyone and give the story some light flair.

I’m not ready to say give
I’m not ready to say give Smollett the Emmy, but I have had some issues with this case from the beginning, though I am a bit of a skeptic. In this age of Trump with his lies, who isn’t? If this was a publicity stunt, or if it was at the very least a situation where one side says one thing and another side says something different, it would not be the first time a celebrity has done something similar. The best thing to do is forget about it. However, Smollett’s sexuality, combined with his race, at a time when the Right loves screaming “fake news” makes the matter more serious. A black male, whatever his sexual identity, would not make the news under normal circumstances. The only reason we know of this case is his celebrity status.
