With a year full of debates on who should and shouldn't participate in Pride Parades, we have to remember that some nations are just starting out and struggling to have just a parade at all. It almost makes some of our arguments juvenile and immature when placed next to the fact that some nations outlaw the event all together, like Uganda.
ENTEBBE, Uganda – Ugandan police have prevented organizers from holding a gay pride parade on the orders of a government minister who says such an event is illegal.
Frank Mugisha, a gay rights leader in Uganda, said police blocked organizers from staging the event at two locations outside the Ugandan capital, Kampala.
Mugisha said more than 100 LGBT people turned up for the event Saturday at a beach on Lake Victoria. He said most of them were later ordered into minibuses and escorted by police to Kampala.
Homosexuality is criminalized in Uganda under a colonial-era law proscribing sex acts "against the order of nature."
In 2014, Uganda's president signed an anti-gay bill that originally had proposed the death penalty against some homosexual acts. A court later jettisoned the law. – foxnews.com
One of Clinton's somewhat overplayed anti-Trump commercials portrays children listening to Trump quotes. The youth is watching. When we present our LGBT community, hold parades, etc., we need to remember, others are watching, other nations that are trying to break through that rainbow ceiling. And it is not just the LGBTers that are watching, but it is the governments of those nations too that are watching to see what turmoil may occur during such activities.
