Rumors Are Circulating That Rogue Will Be Featured In Captain Marvel 2 As A Villain

Finally, female led superhero movies are in the forefront. For a long time coming for our favorite girl heroes and villains were seemingly pushed to the side so that their male counterparts could be the star. Now, characters like Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow and Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers are dominating in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with a huge presence.  Marvel’s biggest competitor, the DC Extended Universe, has seen Wonder Woman come to life and annihilate the box office while Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn has given fans exactly what they’ve wanted for years. Next, with Captain Marvel 2 underway, we may get a peek at the introduction of the Uncanny X-Men into the MCU which fanatics have been craving for years – and with a prominent, fan favorite, female character.

According to Independent, rumors are being swung that Rogue, a power absorbing mutant, will make an appearance as a villain in the sequel to Captain Marvel. Rogue, known for her signature brunette and white hair, has captivated audiences with her emotional story lines throughout the years. She almost kills anyone she touches which has plagued her with despair and loneliness. If you’re familiar with Rogue’s comic story line and/or her animated series story line, you already know that she is Captain Marvel/Miss Marvel/Carol Danver’s foe. After being “adopted” by shape-shifting baddie Mystique, Rogue is convinced to touch Miss Marvel until she fully absorbs her powers – gaining permanent superhuman strength and flight in the process and putting Miss Marvel into a comatose state.

If this story line is true and would make it to the screen, it could be safe to assume Captain Marvel 2 will be another female forward film where she battles a minor villain and comes out on top, basically saying once against she’s indestructible. Insert Rogue in a mid-credits scene where she drains our hero – proving that Captain Marvel does have a weakness and it happens to be the power draining X-Men, err, the Brotherhood of Mutants. Rogue making a cameo can slowly begin what we’re all dying to see: The Avengers versus the X-Men. Oscar winner Anna Paquin is the only person to play Rogue on screen and did a wonderful job with what she was given, although that series snubbed her character tremendously. She would still be a great fit for Rogue but her age could be a factor in a total recast.
