“Like most people, I would like to get married one day and eventually raise a family,” he wrote. “I hope that when my children are old enough to understand politics, they will be puzzled that someone like me revealing he is gay was ever considered to be newsworthy. By then, all the relevant laws and court decisions will be seen as steps along the path to equality.”

With his personal life stabilizing, Buttigieg is focusing on his political career. While most everyday citizens probably don’t know his name yet, Buttigieg is making the rounds within the political world.

Members of the Democratic party are whispering about Buttigieg and saying he’ll be the future of the party. They say this not only because of his ambition and drive, but because of his connections with Republicans.

Because of Buttigieg’s status as the Mayor of South Bend, Indiana, Buttigieg has connections within a red state and is more prepared to sell Democratic policy in a Bi-partisan manner.

On top of that, he ran for chairman of the Democratic National Committee earlier this year and was considered a strong contender until he pulled out from the race the day of the vote.

Due to these qualities and more, sites like CNN are keeping watch of Pete Buttigieg as we all get closer to the 2020 presidential race.
