6 year old parody “The P.C. Dukes of Hazzard” is getting more views than ever.

I grew up watching Uncle Jesse, Bo, Luke, and Daisy Duke with Cooter, Enos, Roscoe P. Coltrane, and Boss Hogg and Lulu Coltrane Hogg.  I think we all had the Roscoe laugh down to an exact science.  There was a dog in there once in a while but I cannot remember his name.

Since I loved the show and we as a family watched it, does that make us racist? I grew up in Maine, a state that is still roughly 97% white.  Oh crap, we watched Hee Haw, too!

I'm not sure I agree with the pulling of the Dukes of Hazzard from television over the fact that there is a Confederate Flag on a car named the General Lee.  Do we ban showings of Will Smith's Wild Wild West since (not because it was kinda bad, but) the antagonist in the movie has a plan to raise the Confederate Nation and take over the rest of the United States?

Are we going too far in "un-confederatizing" the nation?  Did two comedians go too far back in December of 2009 ago by making the Dukes of Hazzard more politically correct?

Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy are certainly pretty sane, but they’ve got the kind of wit that drives liberals insane. The two of them predicted what was going to happen on the second season of “Blue Collar TV” almost a decade ago, when they did a skit called “The PC Dukes of Hazzard.” – conservativetribune.com

Embracing the rainbow flag adorned with a unicorn … is that truly P.C. itself?  Or is that a form of mockery?  Showing that we are the complete opposite and maybe even overly sensitive?

One thought that popped into my mind is, "wait, is this going to be like Ted (Turner) 2?"  Are we going to go back and over-sterilize our history, media, culture? Should we go back and get rid things that may just not have fit right?  Growing up, I also watched Three's Company but always hated when Jack had to play gay in order to live with the girls.  It was the basis for a lot of story lines in that series.  I don't ever remember the Confederate flag on the General Lee being the center of any episode, feelings, or really ever referenced, unless they had to cover it up so they were not recognized (and not recognized as racists).

What are your thoughts?

Should The Dukes of Hazzard be pulled for good?

Should we even care?

Are we allowed to have a say if we are white?
