Florida living has been turned upside down for this weekend. I was trying to plan on going to the opening party / night of the MiFo LGBT Film Festival in Fort Lauderdale tomorrow (Friday) and Orlando Pride as well as the Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando. It looks like most of my plans are now a wash. Of course, this is because God hates Gays.
Andrew Bieszad, a contributor to Shoebat.com, the website run by anti-gay extremists Walid and Theodore Shoebat, has some thoughts about Hurricane Matthew, which is expected to strike the East Coast of the United States in the coming days: "Hurricane Matthew Is The Wrath Of God Poured Out On The Cities Of Orlando And Savannah For Supporting The Evil Sodomites."
God is sending this hurricane, Bieszad states, as "a sign of His anger" against America for tolerating homosexuality and to thwart a gay pride festival scheduled to take place in Orlando this weekend.
"You want to stop not this hurricane, but future catastrophes?" he asks. "Then stop sinning, especially with sodomy"
Now we know that Florida is an area that is infected with sin, especially cities such as Miami and Orlando, which are veritable dens of sodomy. But instead of looking at mere particularities, I thought I would ask a broader question- Is there any “homosexual” activities going on this month in either the Orlando or Savannah areas? Sure enough, I found that both Orlando and Savannah are having massive sodomite pride parades this month, especially in Orlando, which is sponsoring this very weekend as the hurricane is about to hit a massive “coming out” parade sponsored no less than with the major support of the city itself and major corporate backers … How interesting it is that Matthew is set to smash Orlando and Savannah during their sodomite parades! – thepoliticus.com
At 1:30 AM this morning, I had half packed my suitcase because God was coming for me. The blue dot is where I live, in Wilton Manors, and as you can see, the cone, the possible track of the eye of the storm, goes right through where I live and gets Orlando in the projection as well.
Of course this is just a storm, a deadly storm, but it is not the wrath of god.
When I signed onto comeoutwithpride.com to check on the Orlando Pride this morning, things were canceled for Thursday and Friday, ut Saturday was still on.
As I was typing this blog entry, this message came to my email.
COME OUT WITH PRIDE POSTPONED DUE TO THE EFFECTS OF HURRICANE MATTHEW
Orlando, Florida — October 6, 2016 — Due to the incoming threat of Hurricane Matthew and the risk that it imposes to Central Florida, the organizers of Come Out With Pride (COWP) are postponing this weekend’s festivities to November. The safety of participants and attendees is our highest priority.
The Central Florida area is currently facing the possibility of widespread power outages, obstructed roadways, and high demand for Police and Fire services in the period following the storm. While the weather forecast for Saturday is favorable for our event, expected conditions today and Friday will severely impact the ability of our team to set up and prepare the park for a festival. Additionally, many non-local vendors, entertainers and supporting businesses will be unable to participate due to transportation and logistical issues.
With so many in the community looking forward to uniting together at Pride, the COWP board is committed to making the event happen at a later time in November. We will be working with officials on alternative plans and will announce the details as soon as possible. Updates will be posted to comeoutwithpride.com and COWP social media channels as they become available.
One event down. What about the film festival?
OPENING NIGHT FILM & PARTY–now called "TAKE-2"–will take place our second weekend, Friday, October 14th–same venue, same film, same party.
The Festival continues* Saturday, October 8th at The Classic Gateway Theatre and Cinema Paradiso.
Please check mifofilm.com and our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/mifofilmfest, and we will continue to keep you informed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the people impacted by the storm.
I will keep an eye on all the events and schedules as long as we still have power here in Fort Lauderdale. But what about Universal? Even though many are posting on the Universal Orlando Annual Passholder Facebook page that Halloween Horror Nights is being taken down, tents and scare zones being packed away, there is no official news from Universal about postponements or cancelations.
Universal Orlando has still not indicated that any of its scheduled activities or park hours will be adjusted for the oncoming Hurricane Matthew. Even tonight’s event, Halloween Horror Nights, is still expected to operate as scheduled as of this moment. Universal posted this statement on its website this morning for guests who are questioning if their vacation plans will be altered:
“Universal Orlando Resort is closely monitoring the weather, and at this time there are no changes to our operating hours.”
SeaWorld and Legoland are not as bold. SeaWorld announced yesterday that they would close today at 2pm. Discovery Cove will be closed early today as well, and SeaWorld’s Aquatica won’t even open it’s gates this morning. Tomorrow all three of SeaWorld Entertainment’s properties will remain bolted.
Legoland is taking a similar approach with its gates closing early today and shutting out guests tomorrow as well. – insidethemagic.net
Whatever you are planning on doing in Florida this weekend, be safe and call ahead. It's all my fault people. I'm sorry. I'm gay and wanted to do all three of these things and god decided to cancel my plans.
With the devastation in Haiti
With the devastation in Haiti and parts of Cuba, and the overall destruction expected in Florida, no "Gay Florida" is not under attack, Florida is under attack, period.
