It seems plans are underway by the Trump Administration to introduce a new transgender military policy on February 21.
It was US District Judge Marvin Garbis who started this story after noticing it in an order that was filed on Tuesday (February 6).
The political whispering and rumors spreading around this date are backed by the fact that Trump’s initial ban asked the defense secretary to submit a plan for implementing the ban by February 21.
This impending policy comes even though the initial memo to ban transgender service people was greatly disputed by multiple court cases.
For instance, US Federal Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly wrote that the US military was to ignore Trump’s ban. Because of that, transgender service people were allowed back into the military at the start of this year (January 1, 2018.
Unfortunately, we do not know what the new policy will entail, and sadly we just have to wait and see.
That said, Maj. David Eastburn, a Pentagon spokesperson, told BuzzFeed News that the Pentagon would be giving Trump and co. recommendations on how to proceed. Hopefully, they can influence President Trump into the right direction.
