Ever wanted to showcase your love of drag, but never quite wanted to be on RuPaul’s Drag Race? Or maybe you’ve auditioned 11 times and have never made it on? Well there’s good news for you…Alaska is hosting the first ever Drag Queen of the Year Pageant Competition Award Contest Competition, which will crown the best drag performer (so long as you can get to Los Angeles during DragCon weekend).
The best thing about it? The competition is truly open to everyone. In a promotional video, Alaska says:
Drag queens, drag kings, Trans artists, hyper queens, bio queens, AFAB queens are all welcome to participate. From first time performers to established pageant powerhouses, all are invited to compete for this coveted title.
Look out Mama Ru, Alaska is trying to snatch your crown.
The pageant will be judged by some prestigious and iconic drag performers…so amazing they haven’t even been booked.
The winner of the coveted title will win a cash prize of $10,000 (maybe one day it will be $100,000?)
