A shocking incident occurred on Friday, May 3, when a man smashed his drinking glass into a patron’s face at a popular New York City gay bar.

The situation took place at Gym Sportsbar in the trendy Chelsea neighborhood. Footage from it was caught on tape, and now the New York Police Department are on the hunt for the assailant.

The suspect “struck the 56-year-old male victim on the head with a drinking glass following a verbal dispute,” according to the NYPD. Gothamist reported on Monday, May 6, that the argument was over a “chair at the bar.”

A video posted showed the incident from two different angles. The suspect fled the scene while the victim, who suffered a laceration on the side of his head, was taken to Lenox Health Greenwich Village in stable condition.

The suspect was described as being 25-30 years old and 5’8″ with Mohawk hair style. He was last seen wearing a dark colored sweater, a light colored shirt, gray pants and black sneakers.
