Dwayne Wade And Gabrielle Union’s Family Holiday Photo Draws Ruthless Internet Judgement

We’re in the thick of the holidays now and there’s no turning back. Whether you choose to be alone, with family, or friends who have became family – it’s likely that you’re probably boasting about your gratitude on social media. Like most, you’ll showcase your delicious meal, outfit of the day, or family photographs from the past or current day. While some may be embarrassed by family and choose to avoid pictures, that’s not the case for all.

I’m sure you know who Gabrielle Union is. Besides being a East Compton Clover in the mega famous 2000’s cheerleading flick, Bring It On or her recent battle with America’s Got Talent over alleged inappropriate behavior that led to her firing, she’s married to former Chicago Bulls basketball player, Dwayne Wade. After marrying Wade, she became a stepmother to his three sons from a previous relationship, on top of having a daughter with him. Wade and Union stunned in headlines after publicly acknowledging Wade’s young son’s homosexuality, attending Miami Gay Pride 2019 with him and subsequent vocal support for the LGBTQ community. During Thanksgiving, Wade and Union posted family photographs on their social media accounts which caused a stir from naysayers and busybodies on the internet. Their son, Zion Wade, was seen sporting acrylic nails, leggings, boots, and a crop top. Wade is not having any negativity in his corner about his twelve-year-old son’s appearance.

According to Variety, Wade took to his Twitter to announce he refuses to see internet trolls spreading hate about his son. Wade told:

“I’ve seen some post-thanksgiving hate on social about my family photo. Stupidity is apart of this world we live in—so I get it. But here’s the thing—I’ve been chosen to lead my family not y’all. So we will continue to be us and support each other with pride, love & a smile!” He continued: “As a parent, my only goal is that my kids feel that I see them , love them and support them.”

Basically, Wade is stepping the heck up and saying screw off to anyone who is hating on him and his family for authentically loving their child and brother. He wants Zion to be among safety and love – and because people hate themselves and type trash with their thumbs online, he won’t allow them to hate his own son. Wade is a superb example of not just a father, but a parent. It’s his love for Zion that will allow Zion to grow up with a stable head on his shoulders and without fear of being kicked out of the home for being gay. Something that many of us in the LGBTQ community, especially around the holiday season, remain affected by. Kudos to you, Dwayne Wade.
