Jussie Smollett Dropped From Empire
The Jussie Smollett case is the modern-day version of The Neverending Story, fictional characters and plot lines included. Smollett, 36, was allegedly attacked in Chicago, Illinois at 2AM in below twenty degree temperatures by two men who poured bleach on him and placed a noose around his neck. In my opinion, it was one of the most publicized hate crimes we've heard of in, well, forever? Soon enough, the story was unraveled by the Chicago Police Department and considered to be a hoax. Yes, Smollett allegedly lied about this for media attention and a salary raise. The Chicago Police Department gave an emotional news conference and detailed new evidence, including Smollett allegedly hiring two Nigerian men, who he knew from Empire, to stage the attack. Smollett was arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including placing a false police report. Smollett posted bail yesterday and is currently walking around a free man. But, that doesn’t mean he isn’t facing consequences.
According to Deadline, Smollett’s character has been cut from the remainder of this current season of Empire. Openly gay Executive Producer, Lee Daniels, and others released a statement:
“The events of the past few weeks have been incredibly emotional for all of us. Jussie has been an important member of our Empire family for the past five years and we care about him deeply. While these allegations are very disturbing, we are placing our trust in the legal system as the process plays out. We are also aware of the effects of this process on the cast and crew members who work on our show and to avoid further disruption on set, we have decided to remove the role of ‘Jamal’ from the final two episodes of the season.”
Without question, firing Smollett is the only way to satisfy the media and the millions of people who are upset with him. Smollett received so much attention because, not only was this alleged attack (hoax) a racial and homophobic “hate crime”, it was extremely politically motivated. Smollett’s lie fit into one half of this divided country’s political views and sought to blame the Trump Administration and his supporters. It completely blew up in his face and he needs to face the charges and receive the appropriate punishment. As we all have canceled Megyn Kelly and Roseanne Barr for their racial remarks or insensivity, it should be time to do the same with one of our own, to cancel Smollett who escalated this trickery to dangerous levels, telling people to essentially “fight back”. Instead, it looks like we’re fighting back against his lies. He’s receiving the attention and fame he dreamed of, but just 180 degrees in the wrong direction. We will just have to wait and see how this turns out for him.
Note: Smollett’s attorneys continue to claim his innocence and promise to mount an aggressive defense in court.

For all those waiting to see how this turns out in court, one thing needs to be pointed out.The fact is this involved 3 black men, there were no white men involved and Jussie identified his attackers as white. That makes him a liar and a racist. Whether they set him up (highly unlikely and even why ?) or he set them up, he misidentified 2 black men as white men. He reiterated this in his infamous interview with Roberts. No matter the outcome of the trial, he's already proved himself to be a hater of not only Trump, but all white people.
