Update: The Blast has acquired audio of the emergency dispatch call concerning Smollett's case.

The dispatcher states that a friend called about a friend that was assaulted "when he walked out of his apartment.” The dispatcher then states that the victim is “supposed to be well known,” and had a noose hung around his neck.

Police also know that a chemical substance was used during the attack. Smollett refused to be taken to the hospital by ambulance and instead checked himself in. He was later released "on good condition."

In addition, the two suspects have not been found yet, and police are investigating the case as a possible hate crime.
