Is This The Male Vocal Of Adele’s “Hello” You’ve Been Waiting For?

I've heard / seen this performance many times over this past month, may it have been just me loading it up from my bookmarks or friends sharing it over and over again on Facebook.  It originally dropped in late October and I have been enjoying it ever since.

Is Brandon Skeie's performance of Adele's Hello the version that hits home for us gay men?  Take a listen.

Does hearing a male voice belt out this beautiful hit make it resonate a little more?

What is Adele's Hello about?  She tells ABC News –

"It's about friends, ex-boyfriends, it's about myself, it's about my family," she said. "It's also about my fans as well. I feel like everyone thinks I'm so far away and I'm not."  – abcnews.go.com

So if you're home alone on this Saturday night and you hear Brandon Skeie's version of Hello, who are you thinking about? This weekend, I'm thinking of myself and my family.

Thanks again Mr. Skeie.

Oh, and there is this Skeie remake of The Weekend's Earned it. I hope you don't mind him being in the shower.

He's also a pretty inspirational guy. Here's a video he made to celebrate the loss of 100 lbs.

Bait click!! Why is the author saying this is the male Adele?? Adele is rough, scratchy, and has a poor range of notes. His voice may be good, or not. Hard to tell when he's running autotune. Adele? No. Good? Eh.

Here's the thing. It is very clear that he's gorgeous, but it's also clear this is edited and the harmonies weren't pleasing. He's got a good voice you can tell, but I wasn't super impressed..

I agree. AND..if he's so "obsessed", why didn't he know the words? You can clearly see he's reading the lyrics.

  6. He can sing —- but (hoping

He can sing —- but (hoping he reads this)

    — a COPY is not a COVER. A cover is your version of a hit, not an attempt to sound like the original artist.

    — The overdubbing sucks and detracts from your voice. Listen to the Adele mic only track from SNL

—- Not going to look into the camera? Pity, you lose the sincerity of the song Most songs require seeing your eyes, but this song DEMANDS it

    — A couple of dropped consonants, but a good voice and good feeling. Keep working

  9. Can he belt? Yes. Can he hold
Can he belt? Yes. Can he hold a tune? Yes. Can he vocalize embellishments? Nope.
It’s very good, but very basic. Just my opinion. Flame about it if you want.

  11. Yes, Brandon is lip-syncing

Yes, Brandon is lip-syncing the song in this video, but it is NOT autotuned.  For those who don't believe he's really this talented and that the vocal was autotuned because he lip-synced on this video, go to Brandon Skeie's Facebook page where he just posted a video of himself singing the song live to prove to the haters that his voice is really that good (he also has videos of live gigs posted). Yes, he does hit those high notes in the live video without effort. This kid is tremendously talented and we'll be hearing more from him.  For those who said Brandon's voice is not "commercial quality", I've played Brandon's version for 30 people and over half of them liked Brandon's version better than Adele's version.  Only time will tell how far this kid goes.

Can you calm yourself for one second…Jesus you would think he was paying you…here's a tip, try and take yourself just one decimal less serious…maybe this passion you have could actually be put to good use like advocating for starving children or war…good lord.

Screaming at someone else who's screaming is the biggest waste of your breath. Stop. Just stop. Shut your troll mouth and go feed your starving children or stop a war or something.

It's not live as there was no stress in his throat muscles or anything and I'm sorry there isn't a man on this planet who wouldn't struggle to reach those notes.

    • No, it wasn’t live..

No, it wasn't live…obviously.  But, to say "there isn't a man on this planet who wouldn't struggle to reach those notes?"  That clearly shows you no NOTHING about music.  Perhaps you've heard of a certain someone by the name of Adam Levine or maybe Adam Lambert?  Check yourself hater.

      • I think Anthony is simply

I think Anthony is simply trying to point out that no man could hit those notes in their chest or mixed voice without a little bit more open mouth and working muscles in the throat. Not necessarily tense but he would definitely be working harder for those notes. Also, Adam Levine can hit those note in his falsetto or even head voice however, Adam Levine does not have those notes in his chest or mixed voice. This means that they would not sound as strong or resonate as much. They would sound very thin. Adam Lambert very well could but again it would not be with ease. It would require correct placement in the mouth and dropping the jaw further than this guy did. I think this was a good cover until it got to the chorus where the alteration to his voice was very apparent. Whether it was auto tune or reverb or some other tool I don't know but THERE WAS an alteration to his voice.

It's average at best. Over produced. He has a nice voice but honestly, ask yourself the following… if you heard this version on the radio would you buy it? No. Because it's no-where near commercial quality.

It sounds good but it's pre recorded. He isn't singing live. Sounds like a lot of studio work done to the vocals. I'd be more impressed if he says live on his videos.

I think he is lovely and all that jazz, but the auto-tunes is really upsetting. He isn't even naturally hitting the higher notes. I will keep waiting for a natural version, in a male voice.
