Jason DeRulo’s ‘Anaconda’ Is Nominated For A Razzie Award

The movie Cats, which bombed at the box office and in the minds of many critics and movie goers, earned 8 nominations at the upcoming 40th Annual Razzies, which highlights the worst of the worst in movie cinema each year.

Nods for the disastrously reviewed film run from the normal to the quite hilarious, with Jason Derulo‘s CGI-Neutered “Bulge” up for Worst Screen Combo. He also made waves when a very sexy photo of him featuring his, um, “anaconda“, was removed by Instagram late last year.

Something quite jarring about this year’s grouping is how many Oscar winners and nominees are up for an award. Judi Dench earned one for Cats while others, like Anne Hathaway (The Hustle & Serenity), Sylvester Stallone (Rambo: Last Blood), Matthew McConaughey (Serenity), Jessica Chastain (Dark Phoenix) and James Franco (Zeroville) find themselves scattered amongst many others in the Razzie acting categories. Perhaps they will pull a Halle Berry or Sandra Bullock and actually attend the show to accept their honor if they win? Here’s hoping!

Other actors nominated from Cats include Rebel Wilson, Francesca Hayward and James Cordon. The film also garnered noms for Worst Director (Tom Hooper) and Worst Screenplay (Lee Hall and Hooper). Taylor Swift, who just released her Netflix documentary Miss Americana last month, lucked out and didn’t receive any Razzie love (right word here?) for Cats. Perhaps the organization didn’t want to feel any backlash from The Swifties? Who knows!

It wasn’t all bad news though, as there’s one category called The Razzie Redeemer Award that gives kudos to actors that went from doing some pretty bad material to something totally stellar. The nominees in this grouping are Eddie Murphy (Dolemite Is My Name), Keanu Reeves (John Wick 3 & Toy Story 4), Adam Sandler (Uncut Gems), Jennifer Lopez (Hustlers) and Will Smith (Aladdin).
