John Goodman Reveals Roseanne Will Be Dead on ‘The Conners’

John Goodman is speaking out months after Roseanne was swiftly canceled  due to show's titular star's racist tweet about former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett (she called her the offspring of the “Muslim Brotherhood & Planet of the Apes.")

In his interview with The Times, the Golden Globe winner revealed that he went through a period of depression after the show was kicked off the air and how he was "broken-hearted" at Roseanne's actions by series end.

“I was surprised. I’ll put it this way, I was surprised at the response.” the actor said when asked about his reaction to the news of Roseanne’s cancelation. “ And that’s probably all I should say about it.”

A lot of the criticism that Roseanne (in real life) faced had to do with how her words affected the other stars on the show, many of which were ingenues or actors who haven't worked on such a big project in a long time. The network took care of those issues by announcing they were doing a spinoff of the show called The Conners, which is set to debut this fall on ABC.

And… guess what… Roseanne is dead (on the show). “I guess he’ll be mopey and sad because his wife’s dead,” John said, referring to his character on the show.

So will all be taken care of in one episode when The Conners premieres October 16th on ABC? Stay tuned!
