Kathy Griffin is still experiencing a nightmare-ish situation two years after that infamous Donald Trump photo came out.
The 58-year-old spoke with CBS News on Sunday, March 24, on her life today and the journey that she’s been on since the epic fallout from that pic.
Kathy revealed that she’s still getting death threats, on and off social media, to this day due to the pic that featured her holding a Trump mask that was dripping with fake blood (turned out it was just ketchup).
“I was in London a month ago and I had a driver who took myself and my assistant from London Heathrow to the hotel, and he recognized me from the photo and he said that he was from Morocco and that if we were in Morocco he would cut my tongue off,” Kathy told CBS correspondent Luke Burbank. She then claimed to have him fired after the very uncomfortable interaction.
The consequences of her actions was something that she spoke to Instinct Magazine about exclusively last year. Everything from her comedy tour being canceled to being on a no-fly list to losing her New Year’s Eve hosting gig with Anderson Cooper on CNN happened in a very short amount of time.
Kathy’s own beloved mother Maggie even slammed her for the photo. “She called me up and she said, ‘I thought I heard that you were in Al Qaeda. Why wouldn’t you join another club?'”
Even with everything she has had to endure, Kathy wouldn’t change a thing. “I’ve learned so much. I think a lot of people would love it if I said, ‘Oh, I wish I had never taken that picture. I wish I had never cursed. I wish I had never made this comment or that comment.’ But the most important thing that I hope people see is that, long after I kick the bucket, they see the crazy red-haired lady didn’t go down.”
