Perhaps you’ve heard: Madonna has new music out right now, and it’s been very well-received by fans. The sultry, mid-tempo and cha-cha-tastic banger Medellín,” featuring 25-year-old Colombian heartthrob Maluma, has gotten positive-to-glowing reviews from critics, and seems destined to top charts around the world.

On Friday, The Queen of Pop announced she will perform the summer-y, sexy track live with Maluma at the Billboard Music Awards. Hosted by Grammy-winner Kelly Clarkson, the awards show will be broadcast on May 1 at 8 p.m. ET/ PT on NBC.

This will be the first time Madonna has performed new music on TV in over four years, since the Rebel Heart era. Earlier this month, Madonna announced she will perform at the Eurovision finale in Tel Aviv May 18.

Madonna last performed at the BBMAs in 2016, donning a ruffled purple suit in a tribute to Prince.

This year’s telecast won’t skimp on high-profile performers. The lineup also includes Jonas BrothersBTS with HalseyKelly ClarksonLauren DaigleKhalidPanic! at the Disco and Sam Smith and Normani. The recipient of this year’s ICON award will be Mariah Carey, also slated to perform.

It’ll be interesting to see Madonna and Mariah in the same room together. In 1995, Madonna infamously told the press: “Mariah isn’t particularly smart. I’d rather kill myself than be Mariah Carey.”

Are you going to watch the Billboard Awards? Do you think Madonna’s performance will outshine Mariah’s? Let us know in the comments.

  1. Haha! Ur funny…stop reading the posts by haters. In fact Medellin is a HIT! globally. Madonna doesn’t need the paltry USA to validate her work when she has the rest of the world. You can keep your indecipherable rappers and screeching R&B booty shakers inside “Trump’s Wall” and leave the REAL genious (Madonna) to those who know real talent (the fans). The proof isn’t in online sales…the proof is in ticket sales. No other artist today can outperform Queen Madame X.
