MADtv Is Coming Back For A 20th Anniversary Special!

I always enjoyed MADtv way too much and find myself still dropping quotes from the show more than 6 years after it stopped producing new episodes.  Thank goodness for syndication!  Lucky for me, many members of the cast will return early on in the new year for a quick get together.

The one-hour MADtv 20th Anniversary Reunion special (Jan. 12, 8/7c) will reunite 19 stars of the Fox sketch comedy series, which ran from 1995 to 2009. Per The CW, “the cast reunites to attend a glamorous award ceremony to honor the series, but in classic MADtv fashion, nothing goes as planned.”

The following alumni — some of whom will reprise their classic characters — are slated to appear: Ike Barinholtz, Alex Borstein, Mo Collins, Crista Flanagan, Anjelah Johnson, Nicole Randall Johnson, Keegan-Michael Key, Phil LaMarr, Artie Lange, Bobby Lee, Michael McDonald, Arden Myrin, Nicole Parker, Eric Price, Will Sasso, Aries Spears, Nicole Sullivan, Stephnie Weir and Debra Wilson. – tvline.com

I seriously think 1 hour is not enough to tackle all of the great characters the show has given us over the years.

Who was your favorite character that you want to see return?

If your favorite doesn't make it into the January 12th special on the CW, TV Insider informs us that this special may be a way to highlight the release of MADtv episodes to the public.

In addition to the special, 75 of the funniest MADtv episodes will be made available to stream on The CW's digital network CW Seed beginning on January 5.

MADtv premiered on October 14, 1995 and aired over 300 episodes until its series finale on May 16, 2009. The show won five Emmy awards during its tenure, and produced some of today's most well known comedians including Key & Peele's Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, Family Guy's Alex Borstein, The Mindy Project's Ike Barinholtz and Sleepy Hollow's Orlando Jones. – tvinsider.com

I'll be watching as much as I can.  Will you?

I was reminded about one of my favorite commercials the other day when a report came out that health wise, Grape Fanta was one of the worst sodas out there. Enough said.  My mind jumped to MADtv

  5. Michael McDonald’s hilarious

Michael McDonald's hilarious and over-the-top impression of Andra, the self-centered blonde gal pal of 'mo James Getzlaff in MADtv's parody of Bravo's 'Boy Meets Boy'.  Classic!  "This is bullshit, James!"
