Dennis Nilsen was an infamous serial killer from the UK who killed at least 15 men during the 1970s and the 1980s.

Most of Nilsen’s victims were either homeless men or gay men he'd met in bars. All of whom he had brought back to his North London home to murder. His favorite forms of murder were strangling the men and sometimes drowning them.

The most disturbing part is what came after. Often after the murders, Nilsen would bathe the bodies, dress them up, put them in poses, and talk to them. Even worse, he would sometimes have sex with the corpses. After he was done having his fun, he would then dismember them.

Nilsen would often remove the internal organs and dump them somewhere near his house. Then, the rest of the body would be burned in a bonfire or flushed down the toilet.

It was the latter action that eventually got him caught. After discovering that the drain outside his house was blocked by tiny bones and body parts, Nilsen was arrested. He was then sent to jail for life in 1983 on six counts of murder and two of attempted murder.

Now, Nilsen’s sentence has finished as he died at the age of 72 while in the Full Sutton maximum security prison in East Yorkshire, Northern England. So far, it’s been reported that he died of natural causes.

“As with all deaths in custody, there will be an independent investigation by the prisons and probation ombudsman,” said a Prison Service spokesman.
