Actor Tyler Blackburn Announces He’s Bisexual!
It’s time to add another hottie to the our ever-growing community! While we’ve had multiple celebrities and influencers come out via social media and sometimes it appears a little phony or forced. This is certainly not the case Pretty Little Liars star, Tyler Blackburn.
According to The Advocate, Blackburn openly admits he is bisexual. Blackburn tells he’s been bisexual since he was a teenager, but only maintained relationships with females in his 20s. The actor is now thirty-two years old. It’s obvious during the era of Blackburn’s come up, Hollywood wasn’t too keen on openly LGBTQ actors. Thankfully, the tides have turned and he now gets to let his rainbow flag fly. Currently, Blackburn plays a gay character on CW’s latest science fiction series, Roswell, New Mexico. He came out to the series creator, Carina Adly MacKenzie, who changed his storylines to include compassion for the LGBTQ community. Blackburn tells:
“I heard so many things from within the queer community about bisexuality being a cop-out or bullshit or the easy way out or something, and that always stuck with me because I felt the pressure from all sides to have [my sexuality] figured out. And I think for the longest time, I suppressed more of my attraction to men. It wasn’t until my late 20s, towards the end of Pretty Little Liars, that I really allowed myself to go there and not just wonder about it or lust over it, but experience that vulnerability and experience the emotional aspect of what it is to be bisexual. I’m so tired of caring so much. I just want to live my truth and feel OK with experiencing love and experiencing self-love. Yes, there is an element of, I want to feel like it’s OK to hold my boyfriend’s hand as I’m walking down the street, and not worry. Is someone going to look and be like, ‘Whoa, is that guy from that show? I didn’t know that [he was queer.]’ I want to own my space now.”
No word yet on if Blackburn is actually dating someone, but I’m sure he has plenty of options. He’s a powerhouse on social media with an astonishing 7.2 million followers! I’d say let’s all slip into his direct messages to see if we can snag a date, but I’m not sure I like those odds!
